Radiation Safety Institute (RSI)

Personnel Monitoring

The utilization of radiation sources and equipment is tremendously increasing in industrial applications as well as the medical fields especially after the huge investment in oil extraction in Sudan. The number of radiation worker is increasing and may be reaching 5000 radiation workers in the near future.

Workers who regularly work in controlled areas (areas of hazardous radiation sources) should have their personal doses routinely assessed. This monitoring verifies the effectiveness of radiation control in the workplace and detect changes that take place in exposure conditions and therefore leads to protection of workers from unnecessary exposure to ionizing radiation Radiation Safety Institute (RSI) of the Sudan Atomic Energy Commission (SAEC) is the only provider of personal dosimetry service for these workers allover Sudan.
